DAR/SAR MEMBERSHIP

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) are open to individuals over the age of eighteen who can prove lineal descent from a patriot who served as a sailor, soldier, civil officer, or rendered material aid to the cause of American Independence during the Revolutionary War.

By virtue of their service to the cause of independence, descendants of William Lawson, Sr. and William Lawson, Jr. are eligible for membership in these organizations.  The DAR Patriot # for William Lawson, Sr. is A067400 and William Lawson, Jr. is A067399.

For additional information on these organizations and how to join, visit www.dar.org or www.sar.org. You can download a working lineage form to help you begin collecting information.

A number of genealogical societies exist for those who can prove the service and lineal descent from someone who served a military or civil service during the particular war.  Some of interest that many members of the LFHP qualify for are listed below.  Perhaps the DAR and SAR are the best known but those whose ancestors served in the War of  1812 and the Civil War provide additional opportunities to join.
